Mission:
Midnight
Location: Final Frontier's Bar & Grill
Previously on Star Trek Frontier:
"Sorry for the delay, Kagami," Tadao apologized as he returned sporting a tray of drinks. "Right, so we've got one pot of coffee- strong as you requested- one jug of cream, a bowl of sugar cubes, and a chocolate milk for Hatsune."
"Thats alright Tadao. For once, we have all night." She chuckled. Meanwhile Hatsune was already chugging down on the chocolate milk and in the process getting it all around her mouth and cheeks.
"Slow down Hatsune. You don't want to be sick..." Kagami sighed.
"No need to rush, Sweetheart, we've got plenty more where that came from," Tadao chuckled as he retrieved a handkerchief from his pocket and used it to wipe off Hatsune's muff.
And now the continuation...
Joseph slowly made his way in to the Final Frontiers, barely suppressing a yawn as he did. He had spent the rest of his day unpacking in his quarters and familiarizing himself with the roster of pilots he had at his disposal. However when he attempted to go to bed, sleep never came.
As he entered the bar & grill, anyone who looked at him in his grey pajamas with an odd symbol (Principality of Zeon symbol) on the chest, and the red fur on his ears standing almost straight up, could tell that he was not a happy individual. He looked around the room and noticed the captain with a little girl. He smiled a bit as he saw her, having a flash to when he used to run around on his mother's ship. He made his way to the bar and spoke "A Janeway nebula worth of strong coffee please..."
"One pot of strong coffee, coming right up," the bartender nodded before disappearing into the kitchen to brew it for him.
Joseph sat near the bar as the bartender headed off to make the pot. He turned around, stifling a yawn and looking out to the others.
Soghla' Thorillo entered the bar & grill, he wore black pants with a sleeveless black shirt trimmed in red separating the shirt into 3. He'd long given up on sleep, and after that battle was hungry to say the least. He went up to the counter to order beside Jane. Thor grinned at her, "you did well at the riot, Lieutenant!" His tone celebratory.
"Oh, hey, Commander; didn't see you there..." Jane responded. "Can you believe this damn place? They got a whole goddamn buffet of finger food, but not one piece of fried chicken in sight!"
He couldn't help but chuckle. "Did you ask?" Thor glanced at Jane before inspecting the buffet stalls, there were a few dedicated to Klingon cuisine. He didn't come to Frontier to enjoy his own people's food, though he'd go over for a few things after sampling cuisine from across the Federation first.
"Oh, I did." Jane remarked, leaning in close. "Had to turn on the ol' Joliet Jane charm, but we're getting there."
Thor grinned. "Well as long as you don't aduse your position to get your way, all is well." His tone half joking and he began to think of what he might like to try.
A server finally emerged from the kitchen and placed a large bowl of chicken as reuqested in front of Jane. "Enjoy," he said with a smile before moving off to server the next person.
Kagami looked up from her PADD at the amount of people who had ventured to the restaurant. She couldn't help but smile, it was like a big pajama party but with food, coffee and no sleep. Hatsune was happily tapping away on the PADD playing some sort of game. Kagami couldn't help but look over, it was a children's strategy game.
"Come on..." Hatsune muttered as her fingers ran over the controls. Kagami couldn't help but chuckle, she remembered the same game from when she was her daughters age. The whole premise was to get your starship away from an ambush by a cloaked Klingon Bird of Prey. Granted it was old and very basic, the starship was modelled after an old constitution class.
"Hey sweetie..." Kagami said. "You know, if you want to beat the game you might have to think like a Klingon." She shifted her eyes over towards her first officer. "There's one right over there. He's a nice Klingon too, why not go and ask if he knows how to help?"
Hatsune looked over at Thor. "Commander Thor?" She asked.
Kagami nodded. "Yep. Go on, see if he can help with the Klingon bits..." she told her as a smirk spread across her face. 'This should be interesting...'.
Hatsune wasted no time and in a matter of seconds, she was stood next to Thor at the bar lightly tugging on his shirt for attention.
At first he glanced around at his own height for who called him, with no apparent source directly next to him Thor was about to return to his collection of cuisine when he felt his sleeve tugged on. He had to lean forward a bit to look below and found a 4 year old, he thought she was older but smiled.
After another glance around he focused back on the little one. "My what courage you have walking under a Warrior's feet Little One," Thor spoke with softness though the words were of a proud Klingon, and Romulan but that was a secret. He considered if he should lower to one knee and after placing his plate down on the buffet table, he did just that.
Once somewhat near face to face, Thor tilted his head slightly. "What is it Little One?" His tone a little softer now that he was closer but still it carried to those around them.
Jane looked over from her chicken tenders to see who had gotten the Klingon's attention. Noticing that it was Captain Izumi's daughter... At least, the younger girl had been seen with Captain Izumi, Jane recognized her possibility to make inroads with the officer she looked up to and respected, and stepped over beside Thor and also knelt down to Hatsune's level.
"Is it something you need two sets of hands to help with?" Jane asked, her tone deliberately sweet and friendly. "After all, they say two minds are better than one."
Hatsune simply held out the PADD with her game on. This was her way of asking someone to play with her.
Once he had received his coffee, along with a cup and all the extras he needed, Joseph made his way to a table. He had seen, and heard, the Klingon come in. It reminded him of home, the Klingon that they had rescued from the Borg and who had become a member of his mothers crew. It would be nice to be around another Klingon. They were a fascinating species that were always happily surprised at his strength. He sat down at a table and poured himself a cup, adding the sugar and milk to it as needed.
Kagami was watching on from a distance, smiling to herself.
"Are you sure your husband wouldn't have adored her, Kagami?" Tadao remarked as he returned to check up on them. "I mean... what amount of work could ever compare to little moments like these?"
"Oh hello would have in its own way," Kagami said. "He offered to resign from Starfleet the week she was born. But as I told you, he never got to that..." she let out a long yawn. "And I don't think I've ever been this tired." She crossed her arms on the table and rested her head down.
Tadao smiled. "Well, I can't guarantee I'll be of much help here, but if I could at the very least make you a little more comfortable?" he politely offered.
"Comfortable doesn't matter, unless you have any tricks to help me actually fall asleep..." Kagami complained. "And no singing lullabies. Those don't work." She let out another long yawn. "Athrun used to have a way to help me get to sleep..." she muttered.
"That could be taken so many ways..." Tadao chuckled.
Kagami turned her head to look up at Tadao. "Heh... Whats that supposed to mean?"
Tadao blushed. "Well, um... not sure I meant it that way, necessarily... I mean, it's not like I was personally thinking of you and your husband in a dirty way, I'm just commenting that someone who's less discerning might conceivably look at it that way?"
Kagami couldn't help but smirk at him. "Oh look its got you all flustered..." she said as she sat back upright. She then shuffled out of her seat and took his hand. "So... you have a back office right... Actually, I know you do, I command this base..." she looked him directly in the eyes a slight blush on her face. "How about we borrow it and you can try to help me fall asleep..."
...
"...W-what?" Tadao stammered in wide-eyed disbelief.
No way; absolutely no way this was happening right now; no way that a Kagami Izumi, of all people, was just casually tossing out an offer like that-!
Kagami determined, pulled him along. "Oh just shush and come along!" She told him leading him towards the back of the restaurant.
"Kagami!" Tadao attempted to protest. "Surely, we're not doing what I think you want us to do-!"
"Thats exactly what we're going to do!" She responded.
As he was led out of sight, Tadao glanced over at Aaron and mouthed for him to take over hosting duties- and hopefully give them a little bit of privacy if this was going where he thought it was.
Aaron blinked a few times in surprise before turning back to the bar. He then reached down under the bar and switched on the music system. 'Probably best we have some background noise...' he thought as he turned to the customers.
Jane just so happened to recognize the tune being played as the music system came on.
"Ah, the Peter Gunn theme." She noted aloud. "Ya know, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I'd like to think the band and I did a real good cover of this back in the day..."
